There are some lovely walks close by, for those who would like to set out into the countryside. Follow the ancient track that leads downhill from the guesthouse to the Farfa river, and discover the natural beauty of the gorge, and the mysteries of the medieval mills. A fabulous climb into the high meadows of the Sabina to the north, or a more gentle woodland stroll to the settlement of Castelnuovo di Farfa… and then on to the beautiful Benedictine Abbey of Farfa.
GUIDED TOURS
We organise guided tours at the archeological site of the Roman villa of Monte and its centuries-old olive grove. Some of the trees are of enormous antiquity, and recent tests have shown that these trees are unique varieties. It is tempting (and possible) to conclude that the oil from these trees, is as close as one might get to the taste of ancient Rome – eating history!
The guided tour takes about 1 hour 15 minutes and costs €15 per person. Free for children under 18 years.
REST, RECHARGE AND RECONNECT
You can also relax and enjoy nature as it is, directly from your bedroom window. In the summer, have a swim in the pool and feel on top of the world, with a great view over the valley.
Your hosts will be able to point you to a selection of other suggestions, according to season, upon arrival.
If you’re interested in a ceramics workshop during your stay, have a look here.
